Liverpool possible lineup difficult to predict ahead of Sparta Prague clash

Liverpool will finally return to Europa League action on Thursday, traveling to the Czech Republic to take on Sparta Prague in the last 16. The first leg between the two teams will be intriguing as per expectations. Jurgen Klopp faces selection dilemmas due to the impending clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

The Liverpool boss might consider resting some key players for the visit to the epet Arena. Thus, making it challenging to predict the Reds’ lineup.

Liverpool has a lot of options even though there are injuries present

Klopp has more senior options in defense compared to other positions. However, Liverpool are still missing goalkeeper Alisson and defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip.

There’s a possibility of Gomez playing at center-back and Bradley taking the right-back position. But only if Klopp decides to bench both Konate and Van Dijk.

The Liverpool midfield remains depleted with the absence of key players such as Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic, Ryan Gravenberch, and Curtis Jones. However, there’s good news as Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo came back from the reserve against Nottingham Forest.

Cody Gakpo, although not in top form recently, may start on Thursday as per expectations, given his success in the competition this season. Darwin Nunez, who scored a late winner against Forest, will be rested ahead of the Man City clash. Diogo Jota continues to be in the sidelines with injury.

Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, despite being a candidate for rest, may still start against Sparta due to his experience. Thus, possibly being substituted around the hour mark. Alternatively, if Diaz rests, young Lewis Koumas, who scored on his debut against Southampton in the FA Cup last week, could be in the lineup.
