Liverpool leading the race for Alonso as Bayern to secure key transfer

Bayern Munich has surprised Liverpool, as a report suggests the German giants are on their way to secure acceptance of a five-year contract offer.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool vie to hire Xabi Alonso as their next manager. Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp will depart at season end. Meanwhile, speculation arises that Tuchel may face early dismissal if Bayern falter against Lazio in the Champions League Round of 16.

Currently, however indications suggest Liverpool will clinch a deal with Alonso. According to TEAMtalk, a three-year contract offer is proposed, and initial discussions with Alonso’s representatives are favorable.

Additionally, Sky Germany disclosed that Alonso has a verbal promise with Bayer Leverkusen. This agreement allows Alonso to depart the club next season if a suitable offer is there.

How much does Liverpool need to pay for the services of Alonso?

According to Sky Germany, Liverpool needs to pay €15m-€25m to secure Alonso from Leverkusen. Since, there’s no release clause. Despite Liverpool’s apparent advantage over Bayern in the Alonso pursuit, journalist Rudy Galetti suggests Bayern will outmaneuver Liverpool in acquiring a key transfer target.

In October, German reporter Florian Plettenberg confirmed Liverpool’s interest in Assan Ouedraogo, the 17-year-old sensation from Schalke. Ouedraogo has impressed in Bundesliga 2 this season and is a regular for the German Under-17 team.

However, the reason for Liverpool’s inaction remains unclear. It’s possible they’ve lost interest in the player or Klopp’s imminent departure, suggested by Plettenberg as the catalyst for Liverpool’s interest, could be influencing their decision.
