Liverpool to keep Divock Origi from leaving in the January transfer window

About Football Express UK

Liverpool reportedly have no intention to let go Divock Origi in the January transfer window.

The Belgian has 6 months left on his contract with the Scousers. He can possibly renew his contract but it depends whether Klopp will start him more often.

Divock Origi has 5 goals and 2 assists in 10 appearances for Liverpool this season in all competitions. However he only has 3 substitute appearances in the Premier League. As of now since Salah and Mane have left for AFCON ,Origi will definitely start.

According to reports, three Italian clubs are in contact with Origi’s agents over a possible deal. Although ,The Liverpool Echo states that the Scousers are unlikely to let go of Origi this month.

How important is Divock Origi for Liverpool?

Liverpool are a very different team with master tactician Klopp as their manager. The German manager has handed out special and perhaps complex roles to his players.

Though Divock Origi has struggled to start ,he holds a lot of importance for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp has hailed the Belgian in many interviews and has even called him a Liverpool legend.

Origi can play upfront in a duo as well but is best utilised as a winger. This is because his pace and abilities to time runs makes him perfect in a wider role. Divock Origi can easily split the backline with his off the ball runs. His most important and impressive moments with Liverpool are his clutch goals.

Divock Origi has scored 10 clutch goals for Liverpool, all equalising the score or winning the match for them. Back in 2015 when Klopp took over a comparatively weaker side , Liverpool used to struggle to make it to the top 6 let alone top 4. At that time ,in a tough match against West Brom when Liverpool were 1 goal down ,it was Origi who scored the equaliser in the 96th minute. This marked the beginning of an important moment in the club.

Perhaps Divock’s most important goal was against Barcelona in the semifinals. Liverpool were 3 down in the first leg but they didn’t give up and if it weren’t for Origi’s goal ,they wouldn’t have qualified to the finals.
