Liverpool defenders Virgil Van Djik, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip joined Liverpool’s training after recovering from their injuries.
The Liverpool defenders were are players who were undertaking lactate testing, a drill measuring endurance levels with a series of runs, on the first day of the pre-season camp.
Van Dijk and Matip were on the bench during the last season after sustaining injuries in October and November respectively. Liverpool’s another Alexander-Arnold leave the Euro 2020 campaign with a thigh injury.
Liverpool’s defender Joe Gomez has been out from the squad for a long period, has also joined the training.
The Reds have confirmed that they will be playing four matches during the pre-season campaign.
Liverpool Pre-Season schedule
On July 20, they will be playing 30-minute mini-games against FC Wacker and Stuggart behind closed doors.
After three days, they will be facing Mainz with a capacity of 3,500 supporters in the stadium.
They will be playing their final match on July 29 against Hertha Berlin with a capacity of 15,000 spectators.
The regulations in Austria is that fans should carry proof of past COVID infection/proof of a negative COVID test before 24 hours of the match and should also provide a vaccination certificate.
Premier League is beginning from August 14 and will be facing Norwich City in the fixture opener in English football.
However, Liverpool have not made any signing this year apart from Konate. While many Liverpool fans are still in a conundrum about whether a fully fit squad would be enough to compete for the title. With other Premier League clubs strengthing their squad could make Liverpool rethink their transfer strategy. As Manchester City are approaching for Tottenham star Harry Kane at one end. While on the other hand, Chelsea is in talks with Dortmund star Haaland. Thus, Liverpool will also be looking forward to strengthening their squad before the start of next season. However, we are yet to see the Reds making any move in this summers transfer market.
