Liverpool defender scaring Foden caused Klopp to change his routine

March Brighton Liverpool

Liverpool remain firmly in the hunt for the Premier League title after thrashing out a scintillating draw with fellow contenders Manchester City on Sunday.

Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty early in the second half cancelled out a first-half strike from John Stones. There the Reds ensured a 1-1 stalemate. The result means Jurgen Klopp’s men are now behind new leaders Arsenal only on goal difference. With City a further point adrift in the Premier league.

But there was plenty that went unnoticed or under the radar during the 90 minutes at Anfield.

While a very competitive game was played in a tremendous spirit. There were still a couple of flashpoints when tempers boiled over.

Mohamed Salah was targeted by a moaning Rodri during one minor spat. While one strong challenge that fairly felled Phil Foden prompted the City midfielder to immediately bounce back up on his feet and square up to his opponent.

Well, that is until Foden realised it was Virgil van Dijk who had made the successful slide challenge. After which he quickly stood down, slapped the Liverpool defender on the back and carried on with the game somewhat sheepishly.

Liverpool defender scared Foden and Klopp changed his routine:

This was the last time Klopp will take on Manchester City as Liverpool manager at Anfield. And he was determined to make the most of it.

The Reds boss broke with tradition by choosing to watch Mac Allister’s penalty. Which the Argentine confidently converted beyond City goalkeeper Ederson.

And as the home crowd celebrated, Klopp made a point of turning towards the Main Stand and drinking in the celebrations. There at most only eight more Anfield games under the German. So nobody could blame him for wanting to enjoy the last dance.
