Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the injury endured by midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the midst of the pre-season match.
The Reds relished an impressive victory winning 2-0 over Premier League side Crystal Palace in Singapore with all 32 members making an appearance. However, Liverpool have suffered a setback in terms of an injury ahead of the regular season.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in his brief cameo in the first half endured a hamstring injury confirmed by the Liverpool boss. The midfielder was visibly frustrated with the injury picked up by him and was seen punching the turf.
Liverpool face setback
The experienced midfielder will have to sit on the sidelines till he fully recovers to make any sort of comeback. Klopp in an interview with the club’s website assessed the injury and made his remarks on Oxlade-Chamberlain.
He said-
“That’s not cool,”
“[We] don’t know exactly how bad it is, but he felt it and that’s not good.”
“Of course, it’s very disappointing for us because Oxlade trained all the time really well since the pre-season started.
“It happened obviously with Ox in the past when it gets more intense and something can happen.
“Now this is just a muscle thing and that’s OK. We had worse situations, so I’m OK with it.
“I don’t know exactly how long it will take but he will be back and then it’s all fine. He is obviously a top-class player and he can help us.”
The gaffer appears to be optimistic regarding the potential comeback of the midfielder. However, Ox is not the only one who has endured an injury this season, infact he is the last addition.
Joe Gomez, Alisson, and Diogo Jota are all part of the list who are currently out injured. Liverpool fans will hope the lads quickly recover ahead of the new season and create as much impact as possible.
