Leicester City

Leicester City have completed their first deal of the summer transfer market. The Foxes have extended midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on a long-term deal. Dewsbury-Hall is a product of Leicester City’s academy and is now reaping rewards for delivering some solid performances last season. Brendan Rodgers is also heavily impressed with Dewsbury-Hall and wants him to be a part of his squad. As a result, Leicester have tabled a long-term contract extension for the defensive midfielder, according to TalkSPORT.

Leicester City endured a tough Premier League campaign last season. The Foxes went from European football contenders to finishing 8th in the table, four points outside of European spots. Nonetheless, Leicester have decided to back Brendan Rodgers and are planning for the next season with him. Rodgers is more than happy with Dewsbury-Hall after the 23-year-old proved to be a key-part of his side last season. The manager demanded the academy star’s contract extension and Leicester have completed the same.

Academy graduate signs ‘bumper contract’ with Leicester

The academy graduate cemented his place in the starting eleven of Leicester last season, and will now continue to work with Rodgers. TalkSPORT further reveal that the midfielder’s new contract will keep him at the club till the summer of 2027. Geoff Peters, TalkSPORT journalist also reports that ‘Dewsbury-Hall has signed a new bumper long-term contract at Leicester City.’

Peters also wrote that ‘Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of his admiration for Dewsbury-Hall and his development into a first team regular over the past year.’ Dewsbury-Hall played a massive 44 games last season for the Foxes, contributing 3 goals and as many assists. Furthermore, the midfielder’s 28 appearances out of the 44 came in the Premier League.

Dewsbury-Hall also posted a decent 1.3 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.7 clearances and 0.7 aerial duels won over the 44 games. His new contract will also reportedly see him earn as much as some of the senior players of the Foxes’ squad. Leicester are clearly beefing-up for the present as well as the future. Moreover, Dewsbury-Hall will now become Leicester’s fourth player to commit to a long-term contract.

The midfielder has followed in the steps of Ricardo Pereira, James Justin and Wesley Fofana in extending his stay this year. Dewsbury-Hall, who has come a long way from the Leicester academy to make his first-team debut shared his thoughts on his breakthrough 2021/22 season last week. The midfielder said, “The 2021/22 season will be one I never forget. Making my first debut and scoring my first senior goal for Leicester were magical moments. I’ve had a taste of Premier League football now, and just want to experience more of it and keep growing and improving as a player and as a team”. Rodgers will now look forward to more signings as the transfer market progresses.
