Leicester City demanding £50m for Newcastle United target

Eddie Howe's concern

Newcastle United are looking to submit a bid for Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes in the transfer window this summer.

The Magpies’ pursuit for attacking reinforcements continues with the Foxes winger as their latest addition to the list. Newcastle lost out on Hugo Ekitike to Paris Saint-Germain though he was their main target this summer in the window.

However, the Magpies have turned all their attention to Harvey Barnes as an alternative to Ekitike and could submit a bid. Newcastle have an offer in mind but nothing concrete has developed yet so far between the two clubs.

Newcastle want Barnes this summer

The Magpies’ gaffer Eddie Howe is keen to make changes in the attacking front line ahead of the new season. Turning to players on the transfer market, the gaffer lost Ekitike to PSG and is now looking to bring in Barnes.

Barnes has netted 11 goals, registering 13 assists in his 47 appearances across all the competitions last season with Newcastle. Though the winger endured an injury-hit campaign, he still had a decent season to boast.

Moreover, the winger netted the ball three times for Leicester in the pre-season which shows what he is capable of. The heavy interest from the Magpies seems obvious considering what Barnes could offer to the side on the pitch.

However, Newcastle face a major roadblock set in their pursuit to sign the winger from Leicester this summer. The Foxes have set a fee in the region of £50m for the winger if he is to leave the club.

Whereas, Newcastle are willing to pay as much as £25m for the 24-year-old and not go wild and splash money. The two parties could negotiate in the coming days and Barnes will hope to clear his future soon.
