Leicester City 1-0 Liverpool: player ratings


After enduring a heavy defeat against Manchester City on Boxing Day, Leicester City got back to winning ways brilliantly after beating Liverpool thanks to the contribution from second-half substitute Ademola Lookman. 

Following this defeat, the gap at the top has now been extended to six points and the Reds are currently second in the league with 41 points in 19 games. And the Foxes are ninth in the table with 25 points in 18 games.

Kasper Schmeichel(8/10)(GK):

Enjoyed a terrific game and made a few crucial saves along with the penalty in the first half. 

Timothy Castagne(7/10)(RB):

Played very well and didn’t allow Sadio Mane any spaces upfront. 

Daniel Amartey(7.5)(CB):

Displayed a great performance when the first choice defenders are out of action. 

Wilfred Ndidi(6/10)(CB):

Gave away the penalty but apart from that did very well. 

Luke Thomas(6.5/10)(LB):

Kept Mohamed Salah quiet and made no mistake throughout the game. 

Hamza Choudhury(6/10)(CM):

Worked very hard off the ball but the ball looked a bit shaky. 

Boubakary Soumare(6.5/10)(CDM):

Shielded the backline quite well and overall a good performance. 

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall(7/10)(CM):

Displayed a good performance and was better in the second half. 

James Maddison(6/10)(CAM):

The Englishman wasn’t at his best on the night and was taken off at the hour mark. 

Jamie Vardy(6/10)(CF):

He did not have much joy against Virgil Van Dijk. 

Kelechi Iheanacho(6/10)(CF):

Wasn’t a great performance from the Nigerian. 


Ademola Lookman(7.5/10)(LW):

Completely changed the game after coming on the pitch in the second half and scoring the match-winning goal. 

Youri Tielemans(6/10)(CM):

Wasn’t a great performance from the Belgian but helped his side to keep a clean sheet. 

Marc Albrighton(6/10)(RW):

Did his job well enough to come away with all three points. 



The Brazilian only had one save to make but conceded the goal from the first post. 

Trent Alexander-Arnold(5/10)(RB):

Wasn’t at his best on the night and was out of position when Leicester developed the attack for the goal from his side. 

Joel Matip(6/10)(CB):

Progressed forward with the ball on a few occasions but failed to read the danger on the goal. 

Virgil Van Dijk(6/10)(CB):

Did a good job against Vardy but should have blocked Lookman from taking the shot on goal. 

Konstantinos Tsimikas(6/10)(LB):

The Greek went forward on several occasions but lacked quality on the final pass. 


Endured a tough time after returning from Covid-19 and was taken off early into the second half. 

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain(5/10)(CM):

The Englishman didn’t have a great time and was substituted in the second half. 

Jordan Henderson(6/10)(CM):

Started the game well but faded away in the second half. 

Mohamed Salah(4/10)(RW):

Failed to convert the penalty and also missed a glorious opportunity in the first half. Overall a disappointing outing from the Egyptians. 

Sadio Mane(5/10)(LW):

The Senegalese had a great chance to go ahead into the game. But, failed to keep his shot on target. 

Diogo Jota(6/10)(CF):

It wasn’t the best of performances from the Portuguese. 


Naby Keita(6/10)(CM):

It was a good performance from the former Leipzig man but unfortunately ended up on the losing side. 

James Milner(6/10)(CDM):

Replaced Fabinho and played quite well in the last half an hour. 

Roberto Firmino(6/10)(CAM):

Failed to influence the game as much as the Reds fans were hoping at one goal down.
