Leeds United drew with Leicester City on Matchday 11 after a heated battle.

Rafinha scored a brilliant freekick for Leeds in the 26th minute of the first half. Just two minutes later, Harvey Barnes scored a stunning goal which was impossible for Meslier to save. Leeds United was definitely the dominant and better team but did not make use of all their chances.

Leicester’s Ademola Lookman scored in the 67th minute but was disallowed after VAR cancelled it. They had an xG(expected goal) of 1.8 and 5 shots on target. ( Source: onefootball.com)

The Whites hosted Leicester City at Elland Road. The hosts were just above the relegation zone and have struggled this season. They have only won 10  points this season out of a possible 33.

As of now, Leicester is 12th in the table with 15 points and Leeds are 15th with 11 points.

After-math of the match between Leeds United and Leicester City :

Leeds

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said that

“We created double the amount of danger than them. We dominated a large part of the game. The team defended well and we attacked well. And even if we deserved to win, we didn’t manage to obtain it.

“We managed a good performance against a good opponent.

“Football has those moments, there was two identical plays. They had one goal ruled out the same way but we couldn’t finish our chance when Jack Harrison missed from close out”

The Whites are struggling but their recent form has helped them. Their defence is inconsistent and has already conceded 17 goals. It is difficult for them as they are missing out on Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford because of injuries. Rafinha on the other hand is doing wonders for Leeds. He is their top scorer this season and has 4 goals in the league.

Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers:

“For us to put that effort in and show the courage to keep going, we created some great chances but failed to make the final pass and finishes. The supporters will go home proud of the team.
“We showed a great mentality, going behind and Harvey scored a brilliant goal. We were unfortunate with the goal disallowed. “

Leicester City was unbeaten in 4 games until Arsenal ended their streak. They have outscored their xG of 13 as the team has scored 15 goals.  Defensive issues come as a major concern to the Foxes. They have only kept one clean sheet this season.

Despite not winning, Leeds were glad to secure one point. Every match is important for them as they look to stay away from relegation. What’s next for Leeds and Leicester City as they prepare for matchday 12?
