Jesse Marsch thinks Man City player Haaland should have joined Arsenal

Manchester City Colwill

Erling Haaland and Man City have been a match made in heaven. The Norwegian striker has broken almost every single goalscoring record possible since joining Pep Guardiola’s side last summer,

And it’s fair to say his move to the Etihad has been a roaring success.

However, speaking on the Kickin’ It Podcast, Jesse Marsch has claimed that Haaland perhaps shouldn’t have joined City.

Marsch, of course, managed Haaland at RB Salzburg, and he says that he’d like to see the striker in a more transition-based team rather than a possession-heavy side, noting that Haaland would perhaps have been better at a team like Arsenal.

Some people thinks Haaland would have been a better player in Arsenal than Man City

Marsch spoke about the £51m man and a potential move to the Emirates. “I wasn’t excited for him to go for Man City,” Marsch said. “You felt like he should’ve gone to Man United?” The host asked.

“Arsenal,” The co-host suggested.

“That could’ve been good. Erling is best in transition, no question. He is unhuman the way he runs, sprints and attacks,

He can be dynamic. My biggest thing with playing for Man City is that he doesn’t access that. He stands in the box,

It’s not as simple as just standing in the box, but he can move in the box and be on the end of plays.

He knows how to find the game and he’s done an amazing job, but I don’t know if you remember against Brighton where he just shouldered Dunk, and scored, that’s where Erling is on another level,” Marsch said.

Marsch knows Haaland better than most, so we do take what he says seriously, but we can’t help but note how ridiculous this sounds.

Erling Haaland scored 37 league goals for City last season and won the treble. How on earth can you say he’d have been better at any other club?

Of course, if you’re talking stylistically, perhaps Haaland would’ve been better at a team like Arsenal

Where he’d have more counter-attacking opportunities, but it’s fair to say he’s made his style work in this City team.

The reality is that a player like Haaland would be a superstar in any team he joined.
