Jesse Lingard is a free agent

Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard, a January target for Newcastle United who had the English international’s interest cooled in May, is still without a suitor this summer.

Eddie Howe still supports the Manchester United player whose contract is about to expire. Although it is unclear whether Lingard would lower his expectations. Newcastle were rumored to be unwilling to pay the 29-year-old up to £200,000 per week. This is because it would upset their pay system.

After the January window, Howe took a highly uncommon action by his norms. When questioned about Lingard at a press conference, he actually acknowledged that he wanted Lingard in the open. Since then, Lingard and his team have conducted market research.

Howe declared in January.

“Jesse Lingard is a player I have long respected.” .

Jesse Lingard’s wages are too high

The best thing to say is probably that.

It was known in May that he desired £200,000 a week, which is currently more than Newcastle’s sanely established pay scale. According to the reasoning, Howe doesn’t want any significant wage discrepancies, with some players making less than half of what is listed on the books. Will they return? It is still feasible, but he would need to lower his expectations, and Newcastle has many other possibilities.

West Ham, the team where he had success in 2019–20, might be willing to come close to those figures while still showing interest. Despite Erik ten Hag‘s arrival, he will undoubtedly leave Old Trafford.

In a statement, Man United said:

“Jesse Lingard will depart Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of June, the organisation has announced. We’d want to use this chance to express our gratitude to Jesse for all the memories he has contributed to throughout his 20 years here and to wish him well in his future endeavours.”

It is yet to be seen where Jesse Lingard will be going to play for the next season.
