Jamie Carragher admits potential Man United signing is “special”

March Brighton Liverpool

The former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher is a Football pundit on Sky Sport’s Monday Night Football. Jamie is not an admirer of the Red Devils, due to the rivalry between United and Liverpool. But despite their rivalry Jamie was quick to admire a young defender Man United are linked to. Everton prospect Jarrad Branthwaite has caught the eyes of several big clubs with his performances. However, Man United are reportedly planning to sign him in the summer transfer window. English National team selectors are also keeping a keen eye on the 21-year-old for the Euros this year.

Jamie Carragher on Man United transfer target Branthwaite

Speaking on the Sky Sport’s Monday Night Football show he said,

“I think he is [special]. And what is really special as well is the amount of centre-backs we have in the Premier League aged 21 or younger.

“I remember being a young lad going in myself at Liverpool and it’s an unforgiven position, I had to go to full-back for the next three or four years and then go back to centre-back, so you can see the quality we have.”

“Branthwaite has been outstanding, Murillo I think has been outstanding. But I think this lad has been pretty special and he’s a big part of why in my eyes Everton still have a great chance of staying up, him and his partnership with [James] Tarkowski.”

Jarrad Branthwaite is a defensive prospect

The 21-year-old has become a regular starter for Everton alongside James Tarkowski. Jarrad has made 23 appearances for Everton so far in the Premier League. He has also scored 2 goals and performed solidly at the back. Being a starter for Everton at such a young age and performing consistently is a sign of a great potential. Man United would definitely benefit by signing the Englishman in their defence.
