Is Naby Keita finally reviving his career at Liverpool?

About Football Express UK

Naby Keita has finally shown his worth in the Liverpool squad and his recent performances have shown why the reds flaked out €60 million for his services back in the summer of 2018.

Liverpool paid a hefty fee for the Guinean footballer back in the summer of 2018. The Guinean footballer made a name for himself in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. But he has failed to find his form in the Liverpool shit since the big-money move.

Keita has made a total of 112 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool since his move. In this time he has recorded 11 goals and seven assists. (stats via Transfermarkt) His Liverpool career has been hit by injuries and constant time on the sidelines.

But this season he has already made 36 appearances across all competitions this term. This is more than he has ever managed in his Liverpool career till now. On top of that, he has looked like the player we saw in the Bundesliga. Making driving runs into the box and progressing the ball into attacking areas for his side. He was also brilliant in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa.

Keita has recorded 2.1 tackles and 0.6 interceptions per 90 in the Premier League this term. While he has also averaged 1.2 shots and 0.7 key passes in the league this term. On top of that, he has maintained a pass accuracy of 85.6% in the Premier League. (stats via WhoScored)

Is Naby Keita key to Liverpool’s quadruple dreams?

Liverpool are still in the contention to win the quadruple at the end of the season. It is already confirmed that the reds will be playing in every game they possibly could have this term. Jurgen Klopp’s side can make confirm their second trophy of the season as they face off against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

The reds have already won a final against Chelsea this term as they beat them in the EFL Cup final earlier this term. Jurgen Klopp’s side have also recently confirmed their place in the UEFA Champions League final with a win over Villareal in the semi-final. While the club are still in contention for the Premier League as they sit just three points off league leaders Manchester City.

Fabinho was taken off injured in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the league and is expected to miss the rest of the season due to injury. In the absence of the Brazilain, it may be time for Naby Keita to take over the midfield and keep up with Liverpool’s quadruple bid.
