Hugo Lloris looking forward to re-join Nice

About Football Express UK

OGC Nice is keeping a close eye on the contract situation of Hugo Lloris according to Foot Mercato. The Spurs shot-stopper’s contract will expire at the end of the season. The Frenchman is not very keen to renew his contract with Spurs.

As a result, he is now a priority target for Nice. The French side prepare for the potential exit of their goalkeeper Walter Benitez.

The Argentine has been one of the best shot-stoppers in France this season. His performance has attracted many clubs and as a result, he may end up leaving the club sooner than later. The potential exit of Benitez could pave the way for Lloris to return to his boyhood club.

His status as a potential free agent makes him an appealing option for the Ligue 1 outfit. A Nizza native, from 1995-2005 Lloris was a part of the Nice youth setup when he was eventually promoted to the senior side. He made 78 appearances for Nice and then moved to Lyon in 2008 and went to Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.

The French international has been a key member for Tottenham featuring in 316 matches for them keeping 111 clean sheets. In the 2021/22 season, he has kept 7 clean sheets and is showing no signs of decline.

However, it seems that his spell in London could soon come to an end, as he is not too keen on extending his contract.

So, a potential return to France is emerging as an ideal destination. The club has enjoyed early success under their new coach Galtier, and the potential addition of the 35-year-old World Cup winner will help them to boost their squad.

Spurs on the contract situation and potential replacement

The North London giants have made it clear that they are working to resolve the contract issue. Spurs head coach Antonio Conte spoke about it in the recent interview.

“Hugo is a Tottenham player, he’s the captain” “For sure he will talk with the club to try to find a solution.

“I think Hugo wants to stay in his club, he loves the club, he stays well in Tottenham.”

However, for potential replacements, the Spurs might look out for Sam Johnstone or Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
