“Huge football club”- Former Aston Villa boss makes an interesting claim

Unai Emery Aston Villa Premier League

Former Aston Villa manager, Tim Sherwood has shed light on how big the Birmingham-based club really is in his statement.

With Boubacar Kamara, Diego Carlos, Robin Olsen and Ludwig Augustinsson, Villa seem to have made good signings in the transfer window.

However, Sherwood believes the club still need to make more signings in the right areas to compete at a high level. He cited the example of Phillipe Coutinho and what Villa should do to bring the best out of the Brazilian.

Former Villa Boss makes claim

Tim Sherwood has worked with Villa previously as the manager and certainly understands what the club needs. The former manager spoke on behalf of 888sport explaining the requirements of the club and how big Villa is.

He said-

“With Coutinho you have an incredible situation where you have a high-profile player, who has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world.

He is playing for a manager who previously sat next to him in the dressing room. So, Stevie has brought him in because he knows what a great mentality he has.

“I’m telling you, when Stevie went there, and Coutinho, when you go to that club it’s not until you’re there that you realise how big that club is. It’s a huge football club.

“Coutinho obviously loves his manager enough to go there full-time. He can be a thorn in any team’s side.”

Surely, some interesting claims have been made by the former Villa boss regarding the club. It remains to be seen if Steven Gerrard does get them to a competitive level next season.
