How should Manchester City line up against West Ham United?

About Football Express UK

Following a hard-fought victory against PSG, Manchester City will welcome West Ham United on Sunday evening in the Premier League.

The Citizens displayed an impressive performance against Mauricio Pochettino and came away victorious by 2-1. Despite producing a great performance, Pep Guardiola’s side failed to break the deadlock before the interval.

Following the start of the second half, PSG went ahead through Kylian Mbappe from a quick counterattack. However, the Parisiens could not cope with the pressure of Manchester City and conceded twice thanks to the contributions of Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.

Manchester City predicted line-up against West Ham United:

Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne were all out from the midweek clash but the youngster might return to the matchday squad against the Hammers

Ederson will start between the sticks for Pep Guardiola’s side. The Citizens will go with Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias as the centre back pairing. Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo should start on both sides of the full-back position.

Rodri should continue at the defensive midfield position and Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva will form the midfield three for the reigning Premier League champions. In front of the midfield three, Gabriel Jesus should return to the starting eleven after contributing on both goals against PSG and Raheem Sterling should keep his place, having scored goals in back to back fixtures.

Foden is in doubt about this encounter but should start at the left-wing position. And Riyad Mahrez will have to make way for the England International.

Meanwhile, after a disappointing defeat against the Hammers in the EFL Cup, Guardiola’s side will be eyeing revenge from this encounter. So, it will be interesting to see if the Citizens can come away with all three points or not.

Manchester City predicted line-up against West Ham United:

Ederson; Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo; Ilkay Gundogan, Rodrigo Hernández, Bernardo Silva; Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling

Prediction:

Manchester City 2-1 West Ham United:

Manchester City is currently enjoying a great spell and is looking almost unbeatable and on the other hand, David Moyes’ has lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last game after beating Liverpool by 3-2. Therefore, it will be a very tough game for the side from the capital. And they will have to display excellent performance to make an upset against the in-form Citizens. However, it is looking highly unlikely.
