“He will stay”- Ajax boss wants Manchester United target to stay amid exit links

About Football Express UK

Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder expressed his desire to keep the Manchester United-linked player Antony to stay in the club despite exit links.

Antony has been linked to a move to Old Trafford to form a reunion with former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag. Moreover, the United gaffer has been keen to snap up the player this summer to bolster the squad’s frontline.

Ten Hag has already secured the services of Lisandro Martinez from the Dutch club in the transfer window. The gaffer hopes to seal the signing of Antony as swiftly as possible before the transfer window concludes.

Ajax Boss wants Manchester target to stay

The Dutch club’s manager has seen the exits of Lisandro Martinez, Sebastien Haller, Ryan Gravenberch, and Noussair Mazraoui this summer. Schreuder doesn’t want any more players to leave this window as it could hamper the squad in terms of competitiveness.

The defending champions in the Dutch League are close to witnessing yet another one of their players leave in Antony. However, the gaffer expressed his desire to keep the player ahead of the new season.

In an interview with ESPN Netherlands, Schreuder said-

“I really think he will stay,”

“Of course, we have sold a lot of players now. That has not happened in recent years.

“We have also bought players. But we have sold so many players that I assume nobody will leave.”

Upon being asked if he gave the green signal to the players on a dateline to leave, he said-

“No, we did not discuss that. But we do talk to each other daily.

“I assume that no one is leaving. If we sell one more key player, it wouldn’t be good for us.”

It remains to be seen if Ajax will let Antony leave this summer to Manchester or he stays this season.
