Kylian Mbappe is reportedly furious over Oliver Giroud’ comments after the last friendly game against Bulgaria ahead of Euro 2020

France hosted Bulgaria on Wednesday night at Stade de France and came away victorious pretty comfortably. Antoine Griezmann scored from an eye-catching overhead kick in the first half, and a late brace from Giroud gave a satisfying 3-0 win for the hosts.

The French side looked fluid on the pitch and the chemistry of the squad seemed pretty good ahead of the European Championship. However, things got heated following a comment from the Chelsea man in a post-match brief.

What exactly did Giroud say that made Mbappe angry?

After the game was finished, speaking to the media, Giroud said, ” Sometimes you make the runs and the ball is not arriving. Perhaps we could have found each other better, there it is.”

These comments from Giroud made Mbappe furious. And few reports were claiming that the French youngster was willing to make a press conference and express his frustration publicly. But, Didier Deschamps’ intervention helped the situation to settle down.

The French boss expressed his opinion about the situation in the post-match press conference, Deschamps said: “If you received the ball after each time you called for it, it is always the same. The attacker says: ‘I am making runs, but it’s on the midfield.’ The midfielders will say that it is on the attackers. Sometimes, the pass isn’t forthcoming, sometimes it is down the movement. But this is not a stigmatisation of Kylian or whoever.”

Nevertheless, this incident between Giroud and Mbappe exposed the dressing room unrest ahead of Euro 2020. France are the favourites to win the European Championship this time and the biggest task for Deschamps will be to infuse big egoistic players in the squad.

If the French boss failed to do that during the competition. It could be a disastrous campaign given they will have to overcome the challenges of Portugal and Germany in the group phase. However, If the French can perform as they did in the World Cup 2018 then Deschamps’ side would have a huge chance to lift their third European Championship trophy.
