Gallagher final Stance on Parting Ways with The Blues

Atletico de Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly showing strong interest in English midfielder, Conor Gallagher. The Englishman recently rejected the Blues offer for extending his contract at Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Englishman was the skipper for the Blues under the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, leading his team to sixth position in the English Premier League last season. He is now reasoning that he must leave his boyhood club for his footballing future.

Chelsea on the other side are open to let the midfielder choose his future either in London or elsewhere. They are in a position where the departure of Gallagher will purely bring profit in the sales and balance books of Stamford Bridge.

Conor Gallagher was an academy graduate of Chelsea, he joined the Blues at the age of eight, he signed his senior team contract in 2018 which was until 2021. He was awarded as Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year for the 2018–19 season. He went under a minor heart surgery in 2019 and was an unused substitute player for the Blues while they where competing in the UEFA’s Europa League final in 2019.

Gallagher spent some time away from West London in clubs like Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace.

On Aug 2019, he signed a new contract with Chelsea and moved on loan to Championship Club Charlton Athletic experienced the tides of the league and then he was transferred to another Championship club Swansea City in Jan 2020. The Englishman claimed that his time at South Wales was efficient as it helped him to be more creative and innovative as a player.

Further to feel the thrive and breath of the country, he moved to his counterpart Premier League club West Bromwich Albion for the 2020-21 season whilst he signed a new five-year-contract with Chelsea. The club was his home where he scored his first Premier League goal, his only goal came in a 5–1 home defeat to future club Crystal Palace on 6 December.

And ahead he spent a loaned to Crystal Palace for 21-22 season. In all of his roles in the games he played, he was a vibrant performer, gathering several club awards for himself in England and elsewhere.

After spending so much time, in 2022 Gallagher made his Chelsea debut in a 1-0 win over Everton In the English Premier League.

What lies ahead for Gallagher in Madrid?

The Englishman met with Diego Simeone during the summer transfer window. The Atlético Madrid manager expressed his interest in signing him as a midfielder. They discussed the terms of a potential deal.

The Argentine manager needs a midfielder and while eyeing for Euro 2024 winner Mikel Merino. The services of Conor Gallagher would be very effective and helpful for the Cívitas Metropolitano.

However, experts and pundits of football all around the world applaud and appreciate the profile of the England international. It seems to be of equal importance for the Spaniards to compete in their league where superstars like Jude Bellingham, Pedri, Luka Modric run the midfield elegantly and effortlessly.

The Englishman should now decide about his decision of coming to Madrid with high hopes. Will he reside in West London under their new boss Enzo Maresca.
