However Agbonlahor only has made 3 appearances with the England national team.

Gabriel Agbonlahor talks about his International career

Agbonlahor recently occured on Ben Heath Podcast where he opened about various topics about his career. The former English striker said that he was called about 13 to 16 times by the national team but he chose to pull out of the squad many times. It was the uncertainty to get play time that made Agbonlahor take these decisions.

While Agbonlahor’s time, England were already blessed with many great strikers. Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, etc were all on top of their form that time and competing for the striker position of the three lions. This provided Agbonlahor with alack of play time and the striker was not enjoying it. That caused Agbonlahor to pull out from the England squad. He often used that time to rest and focus on next Aston Villa game. Agbonlahor also compared his situation with current Arsenal star Ben White.

Ben White’s England career

Ben White is one of the most important player for the Arsenal squad. However he is another player facing competition due to too much concentration in the same position. England national team is currently filled right backs. Kyle Walker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kieran Tripper and Reece James are all competitors of White for the right back spot. White has only made 4 appearances for England. The 26 year old full back was called for 2022 World cup. Ben White however pulled back from the squad. This definately caused disappointment in the management and White has not been called up for National team ever since. Euros are rapidly approaching and it would be important for White to see what his national team future holds for him.
