Fulham eye Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno in Premier League comeback

About Football Express UK

Fulham are interested in signing Arsenal Goalkeeper Bernd Leno as Marco Silva’s side makes their return to the Premier League.

Bernd Leno joined the Gunners as a starter back in 2018 making a few impactful performances on the pitch. Upon Aaron Ramsdale’s inclusion in the squad, the German keeper lost his spot as a regular making rare appearances for the North London club.

Arsenal chief Edu has agreed to let Leno leave the club ahead of the next season with Fulham reportedly interested. The German international has appeared in eight games and conceded as many as 11 goals for Arsenal this season.

How will Fulham Benefit from this deal?

The Cottagers are preparing their comeback to the English top-flight next season with a few changes in the squad.

Fulham manager Marco Silva is on the lookout for a goalkeeper with Leno as the main contender to fill the spot. The newly-promoted side will face stiff competition from the elite clubs and Silva will need to devise plans to be at par with the teams.

The gaffer is on the hunt to build a competitive squad and possibly avoid a situation like Norwich City. With the experience in the top-flight and understanding of the dynamics of the league, Leno could be of great help to the Craven Cottage club.

At 30, Leno is still in good shape but will need to up his game under Silva for a regular spot. With a year left in the contract, Fulham would be ready to pay the fee to bring in the likes of the experienced keeper.

The lack of game time under Arteta may not mean the quality and experience of the keeper must have gone down. Surely, Fulham will take this to their advantage and compete with clubs next season.
