Everton seems to have identified Frank Lampard as the right person for the manager job. The Toffees considers the former Chelsea legend to be the ideal candidate after their interview with him.
This is according to news coming from Sky Sports. The manager job at Everton became open after the club decided to sack Rafa Benitez two weeks back.
According to the report, there were three candidates in the final round for the manager job. This includes Lampard, Vitor Pereira and Duncan Ferguson. It now seems like Lampard will be the favourite to take over as the new boss at Everton.
SUPER FRANK THE FRONTRUNNER
Previous manager Rafa Benitez was sacked from the job after a very poor performance from the Everton side. The club has been in the market to find a good replacement in the manager role, with many names being thrown around.
The likes of Wayne Rooney, Graham Potter and Roberto Martinez were all considered for the position. However, it now looks like the club will have to decide between Lampard, Pereira and Duncan.
Vitor Pereira looks very unlikely now after the backlash with the Everton supporters. Duncan Ferguson who is the current caretaker manager is still not a proven manager and most likely won’t be considered for the job.
This leaves Frank Lampard as the favourite to take over. Lampard has Premier League experience having managed Chelsea for one and a half-season. He also has been the manager for Derby County in the Championship during the 2018/19 season.
TOUGH JOB AT EVERTON
However, the Everton job could prove to be his most challenging one yet. The club currently sits 16th on the Premier League table, just 4 points above the relegation form. Their form is abysmal, having won just 1 in their last 14 games.
Frank Lampard will be inheriting a side that is having lots of issues in them. There is a need to add good reinforcement, especially in the midfield. With the transfer window closing in two days, he will be forced to work with what he has.
While back in Chelsea, Lampard was familiar with the situation and personnel around, helping him to adjust faster. He also had a stable system and excellent quality of players to use. But in the Everton job, he will have to adapt to an entirely different system.
If Everton decides to give the manager job to Frank Lampard, it will be an exciting step for both parties. For Lampard, it will be an important learning curve trying to avoid relegation and turn the mood around the club. As for Everton, they will have a young exciting manager, who has a point to prove after his last job.
