Fiorentina want to sign Arsenal loanee Lucas Torreira on a permanent deal

About Football Express UK

Fiorentina director of football Daniele Prade has reportedly expressed that they are delighted with the performance of Arsenal loanee Lucas Torreira and they want to make the deal permanent.

The 25-year-old joined La Viola last summer on loan from the north London club for a fee of around £1.3 million. The midfielder has made 16 appearances in the Serie A so far, scoring a solitary goal and notching up as many assists.

Speaking on the press, quoted by TRANSFERmarketWEB. The Italian sporting director stated that they are happy with the Uruguayan’s display and wants to make the loan deal permanent. But, there will be no discussion about that at the moment. And they will start negotiating from March with Arsenal about the 25-year-old’s future. Prade said:

“You know my thoughts very well. We are delighted with Lucas, but we cannot yet talk about redemption. We will speak in March-April with Arsenal, a club with which we have a great relationship.”

Earlier reports were claiming that Arsenal is interested in signing La Viola forward Dusan Vlahovic in this January transfer window. And to make this deal. The Gunners are willing to offer Lucas Torreira and some cash to sign the Serbian international.

Should Arsenal sell Lucas Torreira to Fiorentina?

Since the arrival of Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard has made clear that he does not want the Uruguayan in his squad. Therefore, offloading the midfielder to a club where the 25-year-old will get enough game time will be the right decision from the Gunners hierarchy.

Meanwhile, if Arsenal can sign Vlahovic in a swap deal involving Torreira. Then that will be a great acquisition for Arteta’s side. The north London club is struggling with their forward issue. As the Spanish boss is looking likely to offload Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. And the other forward, Alexandre Lacazette’s current contract will expire at the end of this season.

Therefore, signing a new forward is an absolute necessity for the north London club in this January transfer window. And signing Vlahovic will be a great purchase as he is young and has already showcased his goal-scoring prowess in Italian football. So, the 21-year-old will be an apt replacement for the Gabonese striker.

Meanwhile, after the midweek fixture against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final. Arsenal will travel to Nottingham to face Nottingham Forest in their next game in the F.A Cup on Sunday evening.
