Fernandinho might look forward to extending his contract with Manchester City for another season. Manchester City is ready to keep the Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho at the club beyond this season.

Pep Guardiola is determined to ensure that the veteran defensive midfielder stays at the Etihad.

Playing or coaching options, possibly both, will be on the table for the negotiation. The 36-year-old Brazilian has added a lengthy list of impeccable performances in the Premier League for Man City.

The Cityzens is also aware of the influence of Fernandinho in the dressing room. Meanwhile, a number of youngsters are set to enter the squad. As a result, Fernandinho’s presence and calmness would be valuable for the dressing room.

However, the final decision will be taken by the Brazilian. As with football, the Brazilian has three weeks before he could be again lifting the Premier League trophy.

As per pundit Jamie Redknapp, who was analyzing the game for Sky Television:

“He has been incredible in his time in Manchester,”

There have been so many masterclasses. He still sniffs out danger, he picks up great positions, he is never fazed, he still has great desire and there is no real weakness in his game.

We don’t know how long we are going to be able to enjoy him for. For me he’s the number one defensive midfielder the Premier League has ever seen.”

Fernandinho gets praised by Man City boss

In an interview, Guardiola heaped praise on the veteran:

“I have said many times what an incredible captain Fernandinho is,”

On and off the pitch he helps the team a lot. In the locker room he is always there to give good advice.

Fernandinho is an authentic leader. He knows his role perfectly and is always ready to help the team.

He knows the club so well and we are a young team. We know his top mentality. He is an incredibly focused professional.”

Fernandinho arrived at Man City in 2013 and has nearly 400 appearances for Man City. Meanwhile, he has won 11 trophies for the Cityzens. He also has 53 caps for his country.

So, it remains to be seen what the veteran decides regarding his future at the end of the season.
