FC Porto confirms sale of Fabio Vieira to Arsenal

Fabio Viera

Fabio Vieira will join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this summer as Porto confirms a move to the Premier League club.

The 22-year-old playmaker is set to join the Gunners next season after winning the Portuguese league title with FC Porto. Arsenal will have their third signing this summer with the inclusion of Vieira in the squad.

Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to confirm the move from the Portuguese club to the English top-flight. As stated by the club, Arsenal will pay €40m of which €5m are dependent on the ‘achievement of sports objectives’.

The North London club appears to be in full swing making impactful signings in the transfer window. Despite losing out on the Champions League spot, Gunners boss Arteta is on the hunt to create a competitive squad.

Arsenal’s new midfield Maestro – Vieira

The midfielder has projected insane stats in the Liga NOS. In only 15 starts of the 27 appearances made, Vieira assisted 14 times and chipped in six goals. Impressive figures for a youngster not being a regular in the squad.

In the Portuguese league, the midfielder was second to Benfica’s Rafa (15) in terms of total assists made. The ‘maestro’ with his stats could prove to be an integral member of Arteta’s squad.

The playmaker enjoys playing deeper on the right and can add threat on the flanks. Considering his pace and his sharpness to provide passes, fans could see more goals and assists from the club next season.

With an exciting move made by the North London club, the boss will continue to push for further recruits. Arsenal also signed Marquinhos last week, another young sensation to look forward to.

It appears as though Arsenal are building a balanced squad of youngsters coupled with the veterans. The objective this season will be to stay at par with the rival clubs and compete for titles.

Moreover, the latest signings have given fans the optimism required ahead of the next season. Are we finally about to see the Gunners shift gears this season and live up to their history? Well, with the signings made and the little ray of hope shown towards the end of last season, the ‘gooners’ can have positive feelings.
