Fabio Carvalho sets his standards high after sealing his move to Liverpool

Liverpool have finally announced the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Fulham. The Reds signed the Portuguese wunderkind in a deal worth £8 million. Carvalho joined the Merseyside club back in January, however staying back on loan at Fulham. But the 19-year-old has achieved his dream move as Liverpool unveiled him as their new number-28.

Further on, Carvalho in his first interview suggests that he is not at Liverpool for warming the bench. The youngster believes he could be on his way to becoming ‘the best’ while at Liverpool. Carvalho had high praise for Jurgen Klopp as well, who was crucial for the player to choose the Reds.

Fabio Carvalho has penned a long-term contract with Liverpool which will keep him at the club till 2027. The Portugal U-21 player had made it easy for Liverpool to sign him by readily agreeing to the clauses and personal terms. Fulham too have inserted a 20% sell-on clause in the deal per multiple reports.

Carvalho vows to ‘be the best in the world’ with Liverpool

Fabio Carvalho couldn’t contain his excitement as he talked on the LFCTV. On the other hand, neither will the Liverpool fans hold their excitement to watch Carvalho in action. The teenager was crucial for Fulham last season, helping them win the promotion from Championship to the Premier League. Carvalho scored 10 goals and further assisted 8 in his 36 league appearances.

In his interview, Carvalho said,

“I feel like to be the best player in the world, you have to play with the best. That’s what I’m here to do. One of the main reasons that I joined is because of him (Jurgen Klopp). I’ve seen what he’s done to develop players to the next step and I’m sure he’s the right person to do so with me.”

On asked about how would it feel to share the Liverpool dressing room with some ‘big stars’, Carvalho said,

“There are some big names and I’m looking to make a big name for myself as well. There are big players and I’m just looking forward to learning from every single one of them, from their different experiences. I think they will be able to help me and hopefully, I’ll be able to help them.”

Carvalho also expressed his feeling about Mohamed Salah’s new contract.

“I’m happy he’s signed a new deal as well because he’s one of the best in the world and I want to learn from him. I’m sure all the fans are happy and hopefully, we can win many trophies this year. And my target is to to win as many trophies as I can at Liverpool and be the best in the world”.

Carvalho will now join Liverpool for the pre-season which begins on July 12.
