Everton player ratings; Toffees let the lead slip twice against Brentford in a 3-2 loss

About Football Express UK

Everton let go of a chance to secure their Premier League status as Brentford came twice from behind to beat the Toffees at Goodison Park. On the other hand, Brentford kept their hopes of a top-half finish alive with the 3-2 win. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison were the scorers for Everton, whereas a Seamus Coleman own goal and strikes from Wissa and Rico Henry helped Brentford. However, Everton not only lost the game but also two players to red cards. Jarrad Branthwaite and Salomon Rondon were sent off on either side of the halves. Everton player ratings from their terrible loss are here.

Everton player ratings: Defense

Jordan Pickford- 6/10

Let down by his defenders for all three goals. But Pickford still made some spectacular flying saves to keep his side in the game.

Seamus Coleman- 5/10

His poor judgment while defending resulted in a deflection for the first goal. A game to forget for Coleman as he never stepped up for his side.

Jarrad Branthwaite- 1/10

Last second replacement of Michael Keane before the kick-off who was unwell. However, Branthwaite’s game didn’t last long as well. Got sent off in the 37th minute for an unnecessary challenge on Ivan Toney who was on his way to collect a long-pass on goal. Lowest player ratings for the Everton teenager.

Mason Holgate- 6/10

Can’t say a good game, but held his own throughout the game. Moreover, played well after Branthwaite’s red card and added a crucial block on the line with his head.

Midfield

Alex Iwobi- 7/10

Shifted to that orthodox right-wing-back role after the first red card. Further on, put on a solid defensive work rate to help his team cop with a defender less.

Doucoure- 4/10

Poor from the midfielder who was expected to keep the ball with Everton. Only 19 accurate passes to his name and his hesitation to commit tackles and contest duels further helped Brentford run the show.

Andre Gomes- 5/10

A lot was asked from him after directly slotting him into the starting eleven despite being sidelined for majority of time. As a result, couldn’t cope with the intensity of the game as Brentford players walked past him.

Vitaliy Mykolenko- 7/10

Contributed at both ends. Tried to keep Everton’s attack alive with daunting runs ahead, and chipped in with some important tackles and duels.

Attack

Anthony Gordon- 5/10

Mixed game for Gordon. Put in a delicious free-kick for Everton to open the scoring. However, his product in the final third was poor after that. Moreover, he totally switched off and forgot to give a fight for Brentford’s third goal.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin- 7/10

In the right place to just help the ball behind the line to grab his first goal since August last year. Calvert-Lewin constantly tried to create that goal-scoring threat and outclassed the Brentford defenders in the air winning a massive 9 aerial duels.

Richarlison- 8/10

Won the penalty smartly and converted as well to put Everton back in front just before the half-time. Tried his level best to take the game to Brentford defenders and was successful at times as well. Best player for Everton as he tops the player ratings.

Substitutes

Demarai Gray- 4/10

Replaced Anthony Gordon in the 72nd minute. Couldn’t supply much for the Everton attack.

Jonjoe Kenny- 4/10

Replaced Gomes in the 72nd minute. Played on the right side of the defence and didn’t have much to do as he went untested.

Salomon Rondon- N/A

Replaced Coleman in the 84th minute and a senseless challenge earned him a red card 4 minutes later to end his season.
