Everton are in the midst of offering an official loan bid to Chelsea for Billy Gilmour. Frank Lampard is trying to reinforce Everton’s midfield and has identified Gilmour as a potential candidate for the job. Moreover, Thomas Tuchel has cut Gilmour from his plans for the season. Chelsea have officially green-lit a move away for Gilmour and are waiting for the perfect suitors. Frank Lampard is keen to bring the 21-year-old into the squad as he was the one who gave him his debut during his tenure at Chelsea a couple of years ago.
Chelsea have an abundance of talented youth in their midst. However, it is not possible for them to develop every youngster and give them adequate opportunities. Only a handful of youth players have been able to burst onto the scene and make a mark at Chelsea – Mason Mount being the most recent. The youngsters won’t be able to get enough game time at Chelsea and hence are sent on loan. This way the players get enough experience and game time and develop on their own. If they continue to perform, They will eventually find their way into the squad.
Gilmour needs experience
Gilmour can develop into a good player at Everton and gain some much-needed experience. Moreover, Frank Lampard will be more than likely to be directly involved in his growth. Moreover, Gilmour had a pretty decent season last time as he played in 24 matches for a poor Norwich side. In fact, He was one of their better players in the season.
Lampard should definitely try to get the youngster as he has all the necessary qualities needed. Moreover, if he is given adequate opportunities in the right conditions, Gilmour can easily develop into a world-class talent.
