Everton in search of striker post Richarlison’s exit

About Football Express UK

Everton are considering a move for Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko after the exit of Richarlison to Tottenham earlier in the transfer window.

The Toffees are keeping tabs on the 36-year-old and monitoring the striker up close in order make a bid. Everton manager Frank Lampard is forced to turn to the transfer market to look for a forward/striker upfront this summer.

According to the Italian media, Everton could join the race along with Leicester City and Wolves for the striker.

Dzeko to Everton this summer?

The Toffees boss has heaped praise on the Inter ace previously when the striker was linked to Chelsea back in 2018.

He said-

“[Andy] Carroll and [Peter] Crouch are not the kind of names Chelsea have gone for in the past,”

“The majority of the time you’re looking at making minor adjustments. If it’s a Crouch or Carroll, it’s just a back-up, but Dzeko is something different.

He is a very good player, an all-round striker with all the attributes. He can hold the ball up.”

Lampard will be delighted to have Dzeko at Goodison Park if the transfer goes through this summer. Moreover, Inter are willing to let go off the player to free space for Paulo Dybala in the attack.

However, securing the services of a 36-year-old may not be wise as he enters the final stages of his professional career. That said, if Everton wants a short-term solution to solve issues of goal scoring, then Dzeko could be the man.

However, the race is still very well on for the striker and in its early stages in the transfer window. There will be further developments in the coming weeks to see what transpires.
