Everton has agreed to sign Ruben Vinagre from Sporting Lisbon on loan.

Vinagre flew to Liverpool yesterday to complete the move.

It has been a roller coaster ride for Vinagre. He has now the opportunity of Premier League football as he was a Wolves player from 2017 to 2022. The 23-year-old was on loan with Sporting the previous season. The Portuguese club had the option of buying him at € 10 million and they completed his signing this summer.

Moreover, now a loan spell to Everton- it was thought that the Toffees would have a similar option at buying him for an equal amount. However, Portuguese media has rubbished all these beliefs.

Portuguese journals like A Bola, Record, and O Jogo all claimed that the Merseyside club have agreed to a deal of €20m. This was said because after Wolves sold Vinagre to Sporting they kept a part of the rights for his sale in the future. The reports even add that Sporting has held on to 50% of the Portuguese player’s rights. This right is the right to the transfer fee.

Therefore, as this is an option Everton would not have to play the mentioned €20m if they decide against keeping the player.

Would Everton sign Vinagre after the completion of this season?

Reports have come up that the Portuguese club are making an effort to ‘revalue Vinagre’.

Therefore, if Everton does not sign him, his price tag would still be €20m rather than €10m. O Jogo further adds that Sporting has been searching for a club for Vinagre for some time now. This event came after they recently signed him this summer.

A report came up that the Toffees were interested in Matheus Nunes. However, Vinagre was thrust forward in place of him by Sporting.
