Everton agree on terms with Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet

About Football Express UK

Everton have agreed on personal terms with Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet. Everton are currently trying to figure out a bid for the winger. Burnley have kept a release clause of 17.5M for the Ivory Coast International. Everton hopes to gain another addition to their squad as Burnley got relegation and will play in the Championship next season.

Everton are still making progress with the bid figuring out the addons and another fee. However, they have made an agreement with the player according to former BBC journalist Fletcher.

“Everton offer for Cornet likely to be made up of upfront then add ons upto the release clause. Terms agreed with player, clubs negotiating package. If agreed then medicals and final paperworks.”

Cornet and Burnley have had contrasting seasons last season. While Burnley as a team have had a difficult season as they let go of their decade-long manager, Sean Dyche, and failed to stay in the Premier League, Cornet has had a good season regardless of the mediocrity around him. Even in a disappointing season, Cornet has managed to shine in an underperforming team.

Cornet scored 9 goals and made two assists in all competitions for Burnley last season. He almost has the same amount of goals as that of Richarlison, Who Everton sold for 60M to Tottenham. Cornet is the perfect replacement for Richarlison as he has shown he can perform at the top level. Moreover, Cornet is much cheaper and costs somewhere around 20M. In any case, Everton will gain a profit of around 40M with this signing.

Everton have been very quick in their business in this transfer window. Earlier, Everton were quick to swoop in for Cornet’s former teammate James Tarkowski on a free. Everton would be happy with their progress.
