England will welcome Denmark on Wednesday night at Wembley Stadium in the semi-final of Euro 2020.
England have reached thus far by finishing at the top of their group, beating Germany and Ukraine in the round of 16 and quarter-final respectively. They are the only team remaining in the competition who are yet to concede a goal in this tournament.
On the other hand, Denmark have secured their place in the semi-final despite starting the Euro 2020 campaign with two defeats in the first two games. Having finished second in their group, they overcame the challenges of Wales and Czech Republic in the knock-out stage.
England vs Denmark Preview:
England will be full of confidence coming into this game, after thrashing Ukraine by 4-0 in the quarter-final. Most importantly Harry Kane has found his feet in the Championship and Raheem Sterling also showed his quality.
The Three Lions have never been able to win the European Championship in their history and this will be their biggest opportunity to break the curse. They finished third in 1968 which was the best finish for them. England are without a major trophy in 56 years since the World Cup 1966.
Gareth Southgate’s team will be looking to create history at home with their young and talented squad. The defence will provide a huge sigh of relief to the England boss ahead of the big semifinal.
On the other hand, after the Christian Eriksen incident on the opening day of their campaign, they have settled down excellently and are producing great team games. Mikkel Damsgaard, the Eriksen replacement has done excellently and drew the attention of big clubs.
Kasper Hjulmand’s side might lack the experience of playing in matches of this stature, however, they should not change their approach against England at their den.
Denmark won this competition back in 1992 and they will be looking to do the same having reached the semi-final final. They would like to give a tribute to Eriksen by winning this competition.
