According to reports, Erling Haaland will be joining Premier League giants Manchester City at the end of this season. The striker is available for a sum of £68 million.
That is according to media outlet Football Insider. They believe the Norwegian’s father Alf Inge will be key to making the deal happen. Alf Inge Haaland has played for Manchester City before and bears special affection for the club.
Haaland is one of Europe’s hottest prospects right now. He’s a player that many teams want to build their team around. The striker has scored 80 goals in 79 games for Borussia Dortmund so far. A lot of clubs are interested in the Norwegian but the Manchester club is rumoured to be in front now.
MANCHESTER CITY FAVOURITES FOR HAALAND
Pep Guardiola is an admirer of the Norwegian forward and is said to be backed in their efforts to sign him. Whilst Haaland’s father Alf-Inge is reportedly telling the attacker to join the Premier League champions ahead of their European rivals. Haaland has an English background and that could tempt his move.
Guardiola, however, has refused to comment on the transfer. However, the Catalan boss wasn’t keen to discuss the subject and stopped the reporter midway through the question, as he said:
“Next question. Don’t ask me about that (Mino Raiola’s comment on Haaland’s future). I’m not going to answer.”
The Citizens want to replace Sergio Aguero with a proven goal scorer. There aren’t many better players than Erling Haaland right now in that department. The 21-year-old seems to be the last piece in City’s already glittering side. They signed Argentine Julian Alvarez earlier in the winter window.
Premier League apart from Man City like Manchester United and Chelsea are also in the race. La Liga teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid too are interested in securing the services of the Norwegian. However, Man City are looking like the front runners now.
