Erik ten Hag ‘confident’ of signing £39.6 million rated Ajax star

About Football Express UK

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is confident in signing Lisandro Martinez from Ajax in the transfer window this summer.

The United manager is a big admirer of the Ajax ace and is increasingly confident regarding his transfer to Old Trafford. Lisandro Martinez is on the verge of making an exit from the Dutch club and could move to the Premier League.

Moreover, the representatives of the defender have made it clear that the player will only move to the English top-flight. The Ajax star has been a subject of interest to many clubs with United and Arsenal among those in the mix.

However, it appears as though the Red Devils could secure the signature of the centre-back this summer. It is believed that United are willing to offer £39.6 million for the defender which includes add-ons.

Ten Hag to close in on the Deal?

Erik ten Hag has worked with the defender at Ajax previously which could make the transfer less difficult for United.

Martinez has previously heaped praise for the Red Devils’ gaffer over his development at Ajax. In an interview as quoted by the Express, he said-

“I am so proud of what I have achieved at Ajax and under Ten Hag, I grew as a player and became an Argentinian international thanks to my development at Ajax.”

By the looks of it, Ajax could squeeze every bit from the Martinez transfer but will eventually let him go. However, United and ten Hag are pushing really hard for the player to join the Mancunian club this summer.

A mini-Ajax reunion could be possible if the transfer goes through. It is only a matter of time before the two clubs reach the final stages of the agreement.
