Donny Van De Beek to stay with Manchester United amidst rumours

About Football Express UK

Manchester United midfielder Donny Van De Beek will not be allowed to leave in the January transfer window.

The former Ajax player had failed to make an impression under ex-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He had barely played under OGS and under Ralf he has only played a total of 8 minutes. Donny did play the entire match against Young Boys in the Champions League.

According to The Metro UK, Ralf Rangnick values Donny Van De Beek a lot and will not sell him in the transfer window.

Since arriving in September 2020, Van De Beek has scored twice and provided 2 assists in 50 appearances for Manchester United.

Is Rangnick’s decision to keep Donny at Manchester United the right one?

United are currently struggling in their midfield selection. In their latest match, the team struggled against the Wolves. They were not creative at all, especially with Mctominay struggling. Cavani and Ronaldo were only able to get two shots against Wolves.

When Pogba returns Ralf can play Donny, Pogba and Bruno in a midfield trio. His passing and positioning are excellent. Van De Beek is very precise in passing and also completes a high percentage of his passes. The Netherlands International is effective in terms of recovery of the ball in the final third.

Donny’s best abilities can be best utilised as a number 10 but Bruno Fernandes is irreplaceable in that position. Ralf can play Donny in a duo with Pogba with Bruno upfront. Van De Beek is not great in defensive duties like Matic but can help in tackling as well as recoveries. Moreover, United’s build-up play will be great with Pogba, Bruno and especially Donny at the base of the midfield.

Ralf did make a mistake of employing the 4-2-2-2 formation against Wolves but his decision of keeping Donny will certainly pay off for the Red Devils.
