In a recent interview, former Ajax star Andy van der Meyde revealed that he believes that Donny van de Beek can still be a success and play a big role at Manchester United.
Donny van de Beek joined Manchester United in the summer of 2020 for a reported fee of €39 million. The Dutch midfielder was very highly rated by the Ajax fans and Ajax faithful. The farewell he received is one of the best the football world has ever seen.
The midfielder could feature in the number six, eight, or number ten role. Donny even scored on his debut in the 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace. But Donny van de Beek could never seem to win over the trust of his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Ole always preferred to play the likes of Bruno Fernandes in the number ten position. While McFred was always the preferred duo for the defensive midfielder slots.

But the 25-year-old midfielder had the last laugh as he scored in Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s last game in charge at the club. But even with the arrival of new interim manager Ralf Rangnick the midfielder was loaned out to relegation contenders Everton in the January transfer window.

Talking to The Sun, about the arrival of Erik ten Hag at the helm and the situation of Donny van de Beek at Manchester United, Andy van der Meyde said:
“You saw Donny at Ajax, what he can do in the Champions League. He never gives up but all he needs is a real chance to show what he can do.”
“I know that if he gets the trust of the manager, he will score lots of goals and get many assists.”

Donny will be hoping that his former manager Erik ten Hag could certainly help revise his career at Old Trafford. While he could also have a keen eye on rejoining the Netherlands national team and making the World Cup squad.
