Done Deal- Everton sign James Tarkowski from Burnley amid a ‘strained’ relation

About Football Express UK

Everton have signed Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski on a free transfer amid strained relations with the club.

With the defender’s contract set to expire, Everton took the chance to make a swoop for the player. Despite the sensitive situation between the clubs, the player will make a move to the Goodison Park this summer.

It is understood that the centre-back has reached a verbal agreement and completed medicals to join the club. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that the player has signed for the club on a free transfer to the Toffees.

However, the official announcement by the club is still yet to be made. The toffees could make it official after his contract expiry is met with the Clarets in a few days.

Tarkowski A Good Centre-Back Option?

The 29-year-old will be the latest signing made by the Everton gaffer. The defensive role takeover could come across as a breath of fresh air to the club.

Moreover, his durability coupled with the effectiveness in the back could help the team concede less this season. Tarkowski played 37 matches of which he assisted twice and managed to get one in the back of the net for Burnley this season.

Capable of making crucial interceptions during crunch moments in the game, surely Tarkowski could cement his spot as a regular.

The Goodison Park club conceded over 60 goals this season making them the fifth-worst side in the league defensively. However, with the inclusion of Tarkowski, the club could be in a better position.

Frank Lampard will play the managerial role from matchday one, unlike the previous season. Surely, he would like the team to start on a high and for that, the club will need to be at their defensive best.

All in all, Tarkowski could prove to be a good buy for the club ahead of the next season considering his prior experience in Premier League.
