An exciting Crystal Palace will take on Aston Villa this weekend in the Premier League. The Eagles will host the Villans in Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The match will also see two legendary players of the Premier League era take on each other as managers. Crystal Palace is led by former Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, while Aston Villa appointed Steven Gerrard just a few days back.
After a 3-3 draw with Burnley, Crystal Palace will be looking for all three points this weekend. Aston Villa on the other hand broke a 5 game losing streak to win 2-0 against Brighton & Hove Albion, in Gerrard’s first match in charge.
CRYSTAL PALACE V ASTON VILLA: TEAM NEWS AND INJURIES
The home side will be without James McArthur, who is having hamstring issues. Nathan Ferguson who is recovering from a calf injury is also unlikely to feature this weekend.
Apart from that Palace looks to have a fully fit squad. However, with the December fixture congestion coming in expect Vieira to make changes to his side. Odsonne Edouard could be one such change as he could make a start and replace Jordan Ayew upfront.
Trezeguet and Bertrand Traore look to be the only players who will miss the clash against the Eagles. Midfielder Douglas Luiz is expected to be back in the team after recovering from injuries.
POSSIBLE LINEUPS AND PREDICTIONS
Crystal Palace: Vicente Guaita; Joel Ward, Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi, Trick Mitchell; Conor Gallagher, Luka Milivojevic, Cheikhou Kouyate; Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke, Odsonne Edouard
Aston Villa: Emiliano Martinez; Matthew Cash, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Matt Targett; John McGinn, Marvelous Nakamba, Jacob Ramsey; Emiliano Buendia, Danny Ings, Ollie Watkins
Predictions; Crystal Palace 1-1 Aston Villa
After conceding 3 times and letting go of their lead against Burnley, Crystal Palace will be more careful in their defence. But the Eagles are currently sitting 10th in the table with 16 points. They have only lost twice in the league this season and will be hopeful of keeping it that way.
Aston Villa manager Gerrard will also try to have a solid defence and build upon their victory from last week. Though at 15th in the table, they are separated from the 10th place Palace by just 3 points and a win against them will help close that gap.
