Crystal Palace are set to complete the signing of American international and current Bayern Munich defender Chris Richards in the transfer window.
The Premier League outfit agreed to sign the centre-back for a fee of €15m to land him at Selhurst Park. Moreover, the young defender joined Bayern Munich in the hope to gain experience in a bigger ambience and regular game-time.
However, Richards did not seem to be the main man for Julian Nagelsmann at the Allianz Arena last season. Later, the club decided to loan him out to another German side, Hoffenheim to get the required experience.
However, Bayern Munich in the transfer window decided to put him on the transfer market to make some profit. The Eagles immediately kept tabs on the situation and are now close to signing the centre-back for decent fee.
Richards to join Crystal Palace
According to Florian Plettenberg, the two clubs reached an agreement on a deal worth 15-20m for the defender this summer. Moreover, Palace are really keen to reinforce the defence ahead of the next season and hence the interest in Richards.
The defensive cover has been a big issue for the Eagles last season, however, with Richards, things could be different. The centre-back can adapt to playing as a right back which is one serious area of concern for Palace.
Moreover, manager Patrick Vieira would be delighted to have secured the signing of the 22-year-old this summer.
