Cristiano Ronaldo made Robin Gosens feel small after denying his request

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to grace the sport. Along with his eternal rival Lionel Messi, They are the superstars of the sport and has been for the past 15 years. Considering his status, It is understandable that players want to swap shirts with Ronaldo. More often than not, Ronaldo obliges and grants their wishes. However, Ronaldo does deny the request on some occasions.

One such occasion came when Juventus played Atalanta. Robin Gosens had asked Ronaldo for his shirt but the Portuguese denied his request. This made Gosens feel embarrassed and “small”. Gosens had opened up this earlier.

“After the final whistle I went to him… but Ronaldo did not accept, I asked: ‘Cristiano, can I have your shirt?’. He didn’t even look at me, he just said: ‘No!’.

I was completely ashamed. I went away and felt small. You know that moment when something embarrassing happens and you look around to see if anyone noticed it? That’s what I felt and tried to hide it.”

However Gosens sadness was short lives as teammate Hans Hateboer surprised his partner with a Ronaldo jersey. Gosens had the last laugh as he completed his revenge when Portugal played Germany in the Euro 2021 where Germany beat Portugal 4-2.

What next for Cristiano

Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to play the sport and still remains to this day. However, at 37, He has reached the twilight of his career. With only a few years of football is left in him, Ronaldo would be hoping to end his career on a high. However, he is a Manchester United player and United are not the best team at the moment. Ronaldo however believes in United and wants to stay and reforge United into their previous glory. Although Ronaldo’s patience is seemingly lessening by the day as United haven’t made any signing yet. Ronaldo wants to play for United however is losing his patience with the club.
