Tottenham has been hit by the coronavirus ahead of their clash against Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
The Spurs camp was badly hit by the coronavirus outbreak back in December. That outbreak affected 9 players of his first team. This forced them to forfeit their spot in the Europa Conference League due to postponements.
Conte is now preparing for a clash against his former club Chelsea in the last four of the EFL Cup. However, the Spurs’ boss has now revealed another coronavirus scare for the club in the press conference.
“We are checking a couple of situations about Covid
We are living with this situation, not only Tottenham but all the clubs.
You make a plan in your mind and sometimes you arrive and players are positive so you have to totally change your plan. It’s not easy, but not only for me but all the managers here.”
Conte will return to Stamford Bridge for the first time after four years. He had won the Premier League and FA Cup during his tenure as Chelsea manager.
The Spurs manager will eye for a victory against the European Champions and push forward to lift the Cup. It will be Tottenham’s first cup since 2008 if Conte manages to win the semis and the final.
The Lilywhites will miss Cristian Romero and Ryan Sessegnon for the first leg due to injuries. While Steven Bergwijn is doubtful for the match.
COVID scare continues in English football
Meanwhile, 18 Premier League games have already been postponed due to the outbreak of COVID affecting a number of squads.
Despite a century of reported positive cases among players and staff, the Premier League has insisted on playing.
The League Cup semi-finals have remained two-legged ties despite the request of managers to be changed to one-off games. Reportedly both Conte and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp plead for a one-legged semi-final but their requests went in vain.
The semi-final tie first-leg between Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea is scheduled to take place at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
