Brazil host Chile in the quarterfinals of Copa America 2021 on 3rd July at Estadio Nilton Santos. After a glorious start in the Group stage, the Selecao look to defend their title against the team that had done it before.
Whereas, Chile had a terrible group stage and just won once in a tough group A and would like to turn their fortunes against the hosts. Neymar Junior has been the standout performer for Brazil and would be looking to once again get back into the scoresheet. Will Neymar inspire his side yet again to defend the trophy or will Vidal help his team for yet another trophy?
Brazil vs Chile : Preview
Brazil had been consistent since their loss to Belgium in the 2018 World Cup quarterfinals. Since then, they have just lost a single match, against arch-rivals Argentina. Head coach Tite had allowed various team rotations throughout the group stage and the players performed pretty well.
They have also been victorious in all of their six world cup qualifying matches and even won a Copa America in 2019 defeating Peru 3-1 in the final. However, their recent matches against Colombia and Ecuador had exposed the voids left in the defence.
On the other hand, Chile have been less impressive in this edition of the tournament. The absence of Alexis Sanchez has been a big problem for the team. Nonetheless, the form of local players like Ben Brereton have been a major boost. 72 matches have been played between both of them and Brazil have won 51 out of them. Chile could manage just eight wins and the rest 13 matches ended as draws.
