Chelsea’s potential summer signings

About Football Express UK

Having had a rather quiet winter window, Chelsea would be looking forward to the summer to strengthen their squad with new signings. The Blues opted to not go for deals in January as they plan on sorting things out in June.

Thomas Tuchel would be looking forward to reinforcements in the summer in a season marred by injuries and covid.

AREAS TO ADDRESS IN THE SUMMER

With Ben Chilwell reportedly out for the season after a Cruciate ligament injury, the Blues would be looking for a backup. Tuchel hasn’t been impressed with Marcos Alonso so far and wants someone. Both the wingback positions at Chelsea could do with some depth.

Romelu Lukaku hasn’t been having the best of times after Chelsea splashed the cash to bring their former player back. The Belgium international has also voiced his displeasure over Tuchel’s gameplay. It won’t be far off for Chelsea to replace him with a different striker in the summer.

While the centre of defence will be a key area for the blues this summer. Their defensive trio is all out of contract come summer. Chelsea will be hoping to address the situation or go for new signings come summer.

POSSIBLE FREE AGENT SUMMER SIGNINGS FOR CHELSEA

With a big number of players available for free this summer, Chelsea would be looking forward to getting into the act. Bayern Munich‘s Niklas Sule has already communicated to his club that he won’t be extending. Chelsea is maintaining contacts and could add the German to their ranks.

Matthias Ginter is another name that has been linked to Thomas Tuchel’s side with the German manager considering the move. Alessio Romagnolini has also been touted as a good addition to the London side. Lastly, Ousmane Dembele‘s name doesn’t come as a surprise as Tuchel recently talked up the Frenchman in a recent interview. The German coach had this to say:

“He’s a very good player, and I am very fortunate to have trained him in my time at Dortmund. It was only one year, it should have been longer, But I needed to leave and he decided to leave.”

The Frenchman is available on a free and could provide Tuchel’s side with the dynamism they are looking for.

OTHER SIGNINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR

While in the summer of 2021, Chelsea was keen on signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla but the deal did not materialise. It won’t be surprising if the Blues go after their intended target again.

The race for Erling Haaland could heat up if Chelsea decides to part ways with Lukaku and go after the Norwegian, the chances of which look slim at the moment.

Nevertheless, it’s safe to say that Roman Abramovich won’t leave a stone unturned to bolster his squad come summer.
