It seems Chelsea have done a bit of business on the transfer market before heavy sanctions were imposed on them. The Blues faced the wrath of the UK government after their Russian owner came under fire. As a result, Chelsea are barred from doing any business in the transfer market. But there’s some redemption as Chelsea’s new striker will be joining them in the summer, who was their last signing before the sanctions.
The sanctions meant Chelsea cannot even renew the contracts of their players. As a result, two of their out of contract players have reportedly signed for other clubs. The club could be in turmoil as they may face a summer exodus. However, their last addition to squad, Mason Burstow guarantees at least one new face at Stamford Bridge for next season. The striker has left his current club Charlton Athletic to join Chelsea’s venture.
Burstow was signed by Chelsea in the winter market this season from Charlton. The striker was sent back on loan to the League One club. Burstow will now be teaming up with Chelsea as confirmed by the player himself. The 18-year-old has bid goodbye to the fans in his note.
Chelsea’s on-loan striker pens goodbye message for the fans
Burstow joined Charlton in 2020, signing for their Under-18s. The striker earned his first professional contract with the club a year later. The on-loan Chelsea player has bid a proper farewell to the club and fans before leaving in the summer. His note read:
Dear Charlton Athletic,
It’s time to say goodbye…I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for me.
I signed for Charlton September 2020 on a scholarship and signed my first professional contract July 2021 where I developed as a footballer and as a person whilst gaining lifetime friends along the way.
This club has given me a platform and many opportunities to showcase myself and develop as a person as well as a footballer. I used to be a young local fan who sat in the valley dreaming to play there one day… that dream came true and I can’t thank you enough.
Many thanks to all the fans that have had my back from the start and shown nothing but support throughout this season despite signing for Chelsea Football club.
We have had many ups and downs as a family through the year, but we got through it together and I’m sure this amazing club will be back to where it belongs one day.
This chapter of my life has come to an end and I’m sad to see it go but excited for new beginnings.
Wishing you all the best.
Mason Burstow

A deadline-day signing for Chelsea
The young striker has shown huge signs of improvement with Charlton which attracted Chelsea’s interest. Burstow has made 23 appearances for Charlton this season in all competitions. The youngster has scored 6 and assisted 3 in those 23 outings. Chelsea notched him up on the deadline day of the winter market. Burstow is the latest to take a leap from Charlton to a top Premier League club, after former academy talent Joe Gomez signed for Liverpool in 2014.
However, reports from Cobham suggest that Chelsea have planned it all for Burstow. The Blues want Burstow to join their Under-23s to continue his development. However, Chelsea’s struggle with a striker, and their transfer market ban may alter their plans. Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are failing to deliver, and Tuchel is in desperate need of a new striker. Burstow has a very good chance that he earns an early call-up to the first-team.
Nonetheless Burstow could be termed as Chelsea’s last signing for who knows how many months or years until the sanctions are waved-off. However, with new owners coming through the door, there may be some optimism.
