Chelsea won’t be able to sign Lewandowski this summer

About Football Express UK

Chelsea might have to look for alternatives as Bayern Munich has no intent to sell Robert Lewandowski. The 32-year-old striker would be staying at Allianz Arena for at least two more years.

The Blues considered him as an alternative for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. However, the Poland skipper had an even better goalscoring form as he won the Bundesliga golden boot scoring 41 goals in just 29 appearances.

The Bavarian club’s president Herbert Hainer had even hinted that he might be even staying longer at the record German champions. As a result, there is no chance of a rumoured swap deal between him and Chelsea’s Timo Werner.

No “Perfect #9” Lewandowski signing for Chelsea this summer

Robert Lewandowski joined the Munich club from arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014. Since then, he has scored 294 goals and assisted 65 times in just 329 appearances so far for the two-time treble winners.

His top-class form even continued in Euros 2020 although Poland couldn’t get past the group stage. He scored three goals in three appearances. Chelsea and rivals Manchester City were the clubs who were interested to sign him as of now.

But, according to the club president, he won’t be leaving soon or maybe never leaving the club!

In an interview with Goal, he said,

Firstly, in my opinion, Lewandowski is best striker in the world. We are so happy that we have him in our team. He still has two more years on his contract.”

This could mean the Blues might have to depend upon their current players for this season so as to score more and more goals. Neither Haaland nor Lewandowski would be playing in the Premier League this season.
