Victor Osimhen will cost £66m for any club including Chelsea, who are looking to buy the striker. This is according to the Nigerians current club Napoli.
Reports coming from El Nacional suggests that Osimhen is valued at £66m by Napoli. This is after clubs like Chelsea have shown interest in signing the 23-year-old.
The Blues have been in the news lately after the interview of their big-money signing Romelu Lukaku. Chelsea are monitoring the market to find a replacement for the Belgian striker and consider Osimhen as a good option.
OSIHMEN TO REPLACE LUKAKU AT CHELSEA
Chelsea have been put on the backfoot when Lukaku came out with his interview. The Belgian in the interview told that he prefer to go back to Inter Milan while criticising manager Thomas Tuchel for his lack of game time.
Tuchel reacted strongly against this dropping Lukaku from the squad that drew against Liverpool in the Premier League. Though he did come back to the team, there is still a lot of confusion revolving around the future of the striker. There are also rumours that PSG are interested in signing Lukaku.
This has resulted in the club looking for other options in the market. Victor Osimhen is one of the names that is being linked with Chelsea alongside other strikers. And if Lukaku did leave Chelsea, Tuchel does want a replacement to strengthen his attack.
NAPOLI SETS THE PRICE
Victor Osimhen could be an excellent option for Chelsea considering his recent development with Napoli. The Nigerian striker joined the Seria A side from Lille back in 2020.
Ever since making his move to Italy, Osihmen have appeared 44 times for Napoli across all competitions. He has contributed 19 goals and 5 assists in this period. He already has 9 goals to his name this season, though he missed many games due to injury. (all stats is taken from Transfermarkt)
He is also an important part of the Nigerian national side. Osihmen has 10 goals from 18 appearances for his country but unfortunately misses the squad for AFCON 2022 due to coronavirus. At just 23 years of age, the striker is entering his prime years and this makes him a good value signing for any club.
Napoli understands this and are currently in no hurry to cash in on their asset. Their contract with Osihmen runs until the summer of 2025. Thus if anyone wants to sign the Nigerian, they will have to meet the demands of the club. This is looking to be around £66m, which Chelsea will have to pay if they are serious about him.
Chelsea in the end might not sell Lukaku if the relationship between them improves over the rest of the season. But if the right offer is on the table, the club could take a chance at bringing in a younger centre-forward like Osihmen in the summer.
