Chelsea looks to end their season with a win at home as they welcome already relegated Watford in the Premier League. The Blues have been astonishingly poor at home in the league of late. Moreover, Chelsea will be on the back of another draw at home against Leicester from the last game. As far as Watford is concerned, manager Roy Hodgson will be standing for the last on the touchline as he is set to retire. Further on, the Hornets will want to sign off from the English top-flight in some fashion against Chelsea.
Chelsea will finally end their chaotic season at the Stamford Bridge against Watford. Thomas Tuchel’s team suffered another heartbreak in the FA Cup at the hands of Liverpool. The Reds defeated Chelsea for a second time this season in a cup final, earlier triumphing in the League Cup. Chelsea as a result will want to give their fans some joy on the last day. Moreover, new owners could be again in attendance as the curtain falls on the season. The club would already be planning for the next season after enduring a trophyless one.

Watford have their pride to play for. The Hornets will compete in the EFL Championship next season, under the new manager. Forest Green Rovers’ Rob Edwards will be the next man at the helm of Watford. Current manager Roy Hodgson has announced his retirement, and Watford will certainly want to wave off one of the oldest man in the job a positive goodbye. But with just one win in their last 10 games, one would not fancy Watford pulling off something against Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel has some selection headaches ahead of the Watford game. As many as five players could be unavailable for the manager on the last day. Ben Chilwell‘s season was over in November after a ruptured cruciate ligament. Callum Hudson-Odoi won’t be back as well with an Achilles tendon injury. Barcelona bound Andreas Christensen, Mateo Kovacic (ankle) and Timo Werner (muscle) could also miss the game.
Chelsea’s possible starting lineup:
Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kante, Alonso; Ziyech, Lukaku, Mount
The Hornets’ team news
Same for Roy Hodgson who will be without a handful of players for the trip. Nicolas N’koulou, Samir, Kiko, Tom Cleverley, Imran Louza, and Juraj Kucka will all miss out on playing their last game in the Premier League. Furthermore, attackers in Joshua King, Juan Hernández, Emmanuel Dennis, and Ismaila Sarr are also unavailable for Hodgson. Not many changes are expected in Watford’s line-up from their last game against Leicester. However, Watford will make late calls for the Chelsea game on some of the injured players.
Watford’s possible starting lineup:
Foster; Ngakia, Kabasele, Cathcart, Masina; Sissoko, Kayembe, Kamara; Kalu, Pedro, Sema
Our Prediction
Chelsea 3-0 Watford
Chelsea should see-off Watford comfortably in their final game of the season. The Blues have suffered at the home of late, picking up just one win in their last five home games. However, the picture could be different for Chelsea against Watford at the Stamford Bridge. Watford have given decent performances this season, but the players who have majorly helped them in doing so are out. As a result, Watford are staring at another loss to end their journey in the Premier League.
