Chelsea vs Tottenham happened on Sunday’s London derby at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel’s side went 1-0 ahead in the first half when Kalidou Koulibaly found the back of the net through a volley by Marc Cucurella’s corner.
Chelsea were dominant in the first half, controlling the game with surprising ease. There were numerous occasions where they could have extended their advantage.
But in the 69th minute, Spurs equalized through a goal from midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. This goal was met with controversy, as only seconds prior there was a foul on Kai Havertz by Rodrigo Bentacur was not given. This allowed Hojbjerg to find the back of the net from the edge of the box.
Spurs boss Conte was thrilled with this goal and celebrated right in front of Tuchel’s face in the dugouts. Tuchel was not happy with this. The two managers had to later be separated by staff. Once things calmed down, both got booked by officials.
Tuchel however, did not have to wait much for his revenge. Only 10 minutes later, Reece James was able to find the back of the net, with a tidy shot from close range.
Tuchel celebrated wildly, as he charged down the touchline while fist pumping like a bit of a maniac.
How Chelsea vs Tottenham Ended
However, the Blues were unable to secure three points against a difficult opponent. In the last minute of stoppage time, Kane grabbed a dramatic late equalizer.
But there was controversy around this goal as well. Only moments before Spurs defender Romero had been spotted pulling Marc Cucurella‘s hair. No foul was given, causing many an outcry of claims of referee bias.
At the end of the match, Tuchel and Conte went to shake hands. However, Tuchel found offense in Conte’s act of ‘not looking him in the eye’, and did not let go causing another altercation. Both managers were promptly given red cards.
They shall receive a touchline ban for each of their next matches.
