Following a disappointing draw against Zenith Saint-Petersburg in the Champions League, Chelsea will welcome Leeds United on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.
Despite leading the game in midweek, the Blues only managed to come away with one point which slipped them into the second position in their Champions League group. And that means Thomas Tuchel’s possible opponent in the round of 16 will be anyone among Real Madrid, Ajax Amsterdam, LOSC Lille, and Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, the Blues are going through a rough patch at the moment as they suffered a defeat against West Ham United in their last Premier League game. And following that loss, Chelsea has lost the top spot in the league and is now sitting in third place with 33 points in 15 games.
On the other hand, Leeds United hasn’t had a great start to the season and is currently placed in the 15th spot with 16 points in as many games. Only six points ahead of the relegation zone.
Chelsea vs Leeds United: Preview
Chelsea displayed promising performances defensively until the last few games as they have conceded eight goals in the last four games in all competitions and that could be a huge concern for the Blues manager Thomas Tuchel as his side only conceded four goals in 12 games prior to that.
The Blues have won the last four games in a row against the Peacocks at Stamford Bridge and they haven’t won in five consecutive games against Leeds. Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa’s side hasn’t won against Chelsea in their last six encounters and lost two of those games.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is winless in the last two Premier League encounters at Stamford Bridge as they drew 1-1 against Burnley and Manchester United. They haven’t drawn three games in a row at home since 2015-2016 under Guus Hiddink.

Chelsea has a long list of absentees as all their four midfield options Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and N’Golo Kante will remain sidelined for this encounter. Ben Chilwell will also be out for injury along with Trevoh Chalobah. However, the good news is Romelu Lukaku might return to the starting eleven after recovering from injury.
Patrick Bamford should make his first start after recovering from injury. But, unfortunately, star man Kalvin Phillips will be out along with Liam Cooper for this game. Robin Koch is among the names who are on the long-term injury list.
